Black Sesame Paste
My mom says to darken and thicken the hair, “Eat more sesame seeds.”
Of course, because black sesame seeds nourish kidney yin and essence. Hair is a byproduct of our jing and represents the quality of our blood.
Hei Zhi Ma | Black sesame seeds are a common food herb used in Asian homes. They have an earthy and grounding taste I can’t get enough of.
Black sesame seeds are sweet, neutral, and oily in nature. They nourish the blood and jing/essence/ojas level in the body by fortifying the liver and kidneys. A great food herb for Winter!️
Due to their oily nature, they can help lubricate the intestines for constipation due to dryness or blood deficiency ~ a superb postpartum food. It’s also an excellent herb for promoting lactation.
Here is a simple to make Black Sesame Paste you can easily make at home:
* 1 Cup of Black toasted sesame seeds.
* 2 tablespoons of honey ( feel free to adjust amount depending on taste)
* 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Blend all the ingredients in a blender and serve over congee or your favorite foods. Enjoy.
