Benefits of Massage and Touch Therapy

Abyangha is an Ayurvedic massage that aids in the removal of toxins from the tissues and helps clear the lymphatic system of waste (suggested when going through any detoxification) and improves immunity. It is also very relaxing, as well as lubricating and cleansing for the skin and deeper tissues.

Marma point massage, a technique similar to acupuncture or acupressure where specific points are deliberately pressed and massaged may also be applied for deeper healing. Massage therapy is a very powerful and effective tool in healing the body and mind of trauma, pain, or stress.

HOW SO?

Touch + marma therapy open up neuro pathways and restore intelligence into areas of the body that are either stagnant or compromised so that inner organs, brain, and nervous system are able to function at optimal levels.

*Receptors are molecules most often found on the surface of a cell, they receive chemical signals from the body and respond by doing something. These receptors can become blocked with ama (toxins) and cause dis-ease in the body. Marma points target these receptor sites and they can change the biological functioning of the cells!

WHO CAN BENEFIT?

Massage therapy benefits those suffering from nervousness, anxiety, muscular aches and pains, fatigue, asthma, colds, headache, organ dis-ease, auto immune disorders, hormonal imbalance, stress and emotional disturbances etc.

This healing therapy restores the vitality to a site of injury or weakness restoring its natural intelligence, so that one may experience a renewed sense of clarity and ease to body and mind.

Consecutive treatments are recommended for maximum healing benefits.

Types of oils used:

Organic sesame, sunflower, and coconut oils are used for the application for this therapy. Essential oils may also be used depending on one’s constitution.

If you can’t afford or have time to receive a massage, you can always give yourself a self daily massage. Just as beneficial!!! Take 5-10 minutes out of your busy day to massage and apply oils to your body. This is a great practice that can be integrated into your self care rituals and helps to calm, ground, relax and rejuvenate mind and body.
