The First 40 Days: The 4th Trimester

The 4th Trimester: According to Traditional Chinese Medicine & Ayurveda, a woman’s biological system is completely open and vulnerable after giving birth. During pregnancy, qi and blood are abundant to nourish her growing child. In the postpartum cycle, her blood and qi is depleted from childbirth and a mother is in need of deep nourishment and healing.

Proper care during this time is crucial and highly recommended for all new mothers, and how well she is cared for during this time is said to determine how she will experience the next decades of her life.

The Role of an Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula:

  • Embraces a broader scope of practice using ancient & modern knowledge and skills integrating from cultures that emphasize postpartum care to rejuvenate mother and baby.
  • Helps to fill in the “missing” gap in allopathic medicine and supports a mother with resources and education.
  • Guides mother’s process of “knowing” to unfold as she restores her biological memory.
  • Offers simple practices and tools for mother, baby, family, friends and her community.
  • This will create longer lasting and more positive influences that everyone will take with them for the rest of their lives.

What to Expect in a Postpartum Session with Jenny:

Postpartum care is not about pampering, but one of the best ways to prevent problems after childbirth. It supports needed purification, as well as rejuvenation from pregnancy, birth, and the many postpartum needs.

Rest is so essential during this period, it might feel like that is the last thing a mother wants to do.

Through the understanding of Ayurveda & Chinese medicine, postpartum massage/moxa/acupuncture integrates warmth, down regulation, rest, and deep care.  Rest is one of the most important aspects of postpartum care, and a postpartum doula is there to do just that!

What Mother's say about having a Postpartum Doula:

deeper, extended bonding, less colic, less constipation and gas, less indigestion for mother and childless blues and depression, rapid turnarounds, stronger milk supply,  faster recovery from fatigue of pregnancy and delivery, easier relation with husband and family,  better immune strength, less weight and joint issues,  better reproductive system health and comfort

Alex S.

I’ve been working with Jenny for almost a year and a half now, for issues ranging from improving energy, fertility, orthopedic aches and pains, digestion, to maintaining overall health.

As a healthcare provider myself, I especially appreciate Jenny’s active listening skills and her ability to customize treatments based on my evolving needs. She always seeks to explore different strategies to be even more targeted and effective in her treatments. It truly feels like she cares about my well-being!

When I leave my acupuncture sessions with Jenny, I’m always in a more grounded state and I feel an overall release in my body. My sessions with her have been an important element of self care and I’ve been blessed that it has created overall health and the manifestation of the baby I’ve dreamed of having for many years! Thank you Jenny!

I found Jenny when I was looking for an acupuncturist to support fertility and discovered she has so much to offer with my daily health and wellbeing. Seeing her for acupuncture has addressed a variety of concerns I had from sleep, to my energy levels, and beyond. I had no idea it could be such an essential tool in healing and maintaining overall health. The more she understood about areas of my body or life that I wanted to work on, the more comprehensive her treatment solutions became, including cupping and herbs along with the acupuncture. I’m so grateful to have her in Long Beach.

Today was probably the best college teaching day I’ve ever had. I felt more laid back, loose, and open. Mentally, I was able to adapt more effectively during class discussion, and overall my body felt more relaxed. I noticed the acupuncture, cupping, and body work had a huge impact on my mental and emotional state today. Keep doing what you’re doing and thank you!

Oh wow, what to say! Jenny is an incredible acupuncturist with fantastic intuition and communication. I've been seeing her for a while now for a variety of reasons. From endometriosis to shoulder impingements. She treats the body as a whole instead of in segments. She is an integral part of my healing and maintenance.
